We kept the collection dark because that’s where the artwork seemed to work best. After that, the rest of the look came together pretty naturally.
DVRG / JOURNAL / FIELD NOTE
Most pieces start as drawings before anything else.
There usually isn't a full concept built around them from the beginning. We make something we like first, then figure out how it should live on the garment. Collection 0 came together through that process. A lot of the direction developed naturally as we worked through the first pieces. Black ended up fitting the artwork best, so it became a big part of the collection.
Piece 001 started as a sketch before we knew exactly what it would become.
The figure already had a slightly slouched shape that we liked, so we tried to keep that same feeling when we moved the drawing onto the shirt. We could have cleaned the artwork up more, but every time we did, it started to lose part of what made the original sketch work. Keeping some of those imperfections felt more true to where the piece started.

Everything is printed one at a time instead of being produced in a large batch beforehand.
When someone orders a piece, that piece is made for them. It takes a little longer this way, but we prefer it. DIVERGE has always been built around making each piece individually, and we want to keep that part of the process as we grow.
